Interceramic
With the ability to produce 500 million square feet of ceramic floor and wall tiles, Interceramic is one of the largest manufacturers of glazed floor tiles in North America. Having started in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1978, the founding Almelda family quickly moved across the border to open their second plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1980.
Since then, Interceramic’s growth and impact in the flooring industry has been nothing short of spectacular. They owe a large part of their success to their commitment toward technology. In fact, their newest manufacturing plant, which began operations in 2007:
- Has the largest continuous ball mill in North America
- Features a one-of-a-kind spray drier designed to maximize production efficiency
- Have the largest kilns in the world, measuring 220 meters in length, and 2950 mm channel width
These technological advances and breakthroughs allow Interceramic to produce stunningly beautiful works of art with incredible efficiency. But the company’s commitment to constantly enhancing its operations also helps it to achieve another purpose near and dear to Interceramic’s heart: being sensitive to the environment.
Interceramic Green
At Interceramic, environmental issues are taken very seriously. During the manufacturing process:
- 100% of all water used is recycled
- 100% of all unfired tile is recycled
- 90% of fired scrap is recycled
- 15% of heat produced by the kilns is recycled
In addition, all tile products are manufactured using naturally occurring clays and minerals.
And while Interceramic’s manufacturing process is the envy of any eco-minded business, the company understands it has a responsibility to protect the health and wellbeing of the earth – and its customers – once its products leave the plants. That’s why Interceramic tiles do not require solvent-based cleaners or sealers, which helps to protect indoor air quality during installation, as well as for the long-term.
And yet again, Interceramic’s commitment to the world doesn’t stop there. The company founded Vida Digna in 1995 – in collaboration with Fundacion Alfredo Harp Helú, A.C. to provide health and education assistance for the children of the Sierra Tarahumara in Chihuahua. To date thousands of children have been able to attend school at Vida Digna shelters while receiving the medical services they deserve.
The bold and beautiful masterpieces of Interceramic
Of course, none of Interceramic’s worthwhile causes and efforts would be possible if it weren’t for the company’s astounding tile and stone inventory. From subtle backdrops to bold, attention-demanding designs, Interceramic has the ability to capture every look, feel, and mood within the confines of their tiles. Whether you’re looking to complete an outdoor space, looking to create a rustic appeal, hoping to incorporate modernity and urbanism into your room, or need a material that can withstand the demands of a high-traffic commercial space, Interceramic has a style for you.
Their superior-quality products are matched by their individualized customer service.
